Which one are You? Leader or Manager
Most of the people bear the statement that Managers are born not trained; well let me tell you this most of those people are managers. The most common difference is that a managers tell the employee what to do where as the leader does it with them.
A manager is mostly concerned with the provided strategy and administrates the action and task which are required to go about the strategy. In my view as managers are trained not born so he will replicate the actions of the past manager as well.
The set of processes and guidelines which are in action will be followed by employee as managers job is to ensure that. The focus is how and when is a task oriented environment. He accepts the status quo and ensures to do the things right.
In contrast I believe that leaders cannot be trained they are born with the genes to be harness their potential. They are not structure or strategy focused rather then people focused. Continuously look for ways of improvement and has the originality in his approach and ways. Instead of looking for direction a leader provides one. Focuses on What and Why and keeps eye on the horizon. Leader is ready to face the challenges when needed and does the right thing at the right time.
The identified points are just illustrate a simple difference between the manager and leader.
Managers
- Managers have employees

- Leaders have followers
- Leader create the change
- Leaders implement the ideas

- Leaders create teams.
Even though training may impart some knowledge of managing however the skill of management can be influenced from people as it is an art and it cannot be acquired over night and requires experience and training whereas the traits of a leader can not be inculcated and thus are inbuilt. A manager cannot be a leader whereas a leader can be a effective manager.
